Knowledge is a ticket out of poverty.

The Salvation Army offers a variety of children programs in low and moderate income neighborhoods.

Fifty-seven percent of children between 6 and 17 years old participate in at least one after-school extracurricular activity.

Children were more likely to participate in sports 35% than clubs or lessons like music, dance and language.

The Salvation Army gives a safe place to grow & learn.

Our first priority is to meet basic human needs, but we recognize the importance of programs that go beyond the basics of food, shelter, clothing and safety. In addition to meeting basic needs, The Salvation Army strives to provide programs that will help children thrive during crucial developmental years from after school programs and summer camps, to childcare and toys at Christmas.

The Salvation Army supplements and supports kids' educational opportunities through a variety of programs.

Homework Assistance & After School Care
At The Salvation Army, we provide one-on-one teaching assistance to help kids of all ages with school work, study guidance and literacy advancement. We open our doors to anyone in need and never discriminate based on gender, ethnicity or socioeconomic level. Our afterschool tutoring program is staffed with volunteers from AARP.

Music Lessons
We work to provide music and arts programs that many schools can no longer afford. From choirs to instrument training, after-school lessons and activities help introduce children to the beauties of the fine arts. Music lessons take place Monday - Friday. Please contact us for more information or to sign up.

Karate Classes
Exercise is important for children in order to keep them healthy. We offer a regular karate class for the children in the community looking for an affordable way to participate in a group activity.

Scouting Programs
These programs are similar to traditional scouting programs, such as boy scouts, however, they have a religious element in all the activities. These groups provide opportunities to develop character through exploring different activities, experiencing new things, and learning how to work together as a group.

Friday Night Life
Friday Night Life includes activities for all ages including Teen Night and Kids Club. Kids can enjoy time doing crafts and in the game room.

Family Movie Night
Family Movie Nights always have free admission and snacks for sale! Movie Night is on the 3rd Saturday of every month beginning at 5:30 pm. The movies are chosen to entertain the whole family. It's always a safe and fun event for the whole family!
